On Monday, the US recorded more than one million Covid cases in 24 hours.
月曜にアメリカは24時間で100万人以上のコロナ感染者を記録しました。
The WHO – the UN’s health agency – said the number of global cases has increased by 71% in the last week, and in the Americas by 100%.
WHO、国連の保健機関ですが、先週世界中で感染者は71%増加した、アメリカでは100%増だと発表しました。
It said that among severe cases worldwide, 90% were unvaccinated.
世界中の重症者の90%はワクチン未接種でした。
“While Omicron does appear to be less severe compared to Delta, especially in those vaccinated, it does not mean it should be categorised as mild,” Dr Tedros told a press conference on Thursday.
“オミクロンはデルタ株に比べると重症化は低いようだが、特にワクチン接種者では、だが軽症だと分類すべきという意味ではないと、テドロス博士は木曜の記者会見で述べました。
“Just like previous variants, Omicron is hospitalising people and it is killing people.
“以前の変異株とまさに同じように、オミクロンは人々を病院に送り込み、死に至らせている”
“In fact, the tsunami of cases is so huge and quick, that it is overwhelming health systems around the world.”
“実際、感染の津波はとても大きく早く、世界中の医療体制を逼迫させている”と述べています。
