イギリスのエリザベス女王が亡くなる前日、宮殿の上には二重の虹がかかりました。下の写真です。体調の悪い女王が良くなりますようにとの国民の希望の現れだそうです。記事は昨日のBBCのものです。私の訳でご紹介します。
Queen Elizabeth II, the UK’s longest-reigning monarch, has died at the age of 96.
エリザベス女王2世、イギリスで最も長く在任した君主は、96才で亡くなりました。
She died peacefully at Balmoral Castle on Thursday afternoon, Buckingham Palace says.
彼女は木曜の午後にバルモラル城にて安らかに亡くなったと、バッキンガム宮殿は伝えました。
King Charles III, who became the new monarch immediately, said his mother’s death was a moment of “the greatest sadness for me and all members of my family”.
チャールズ3世が直ちに国王となり、彼の母の死は私にとっても私たち家族全てにとっても大きな悲しみだと話しました。
He is expected to address the nation tomorrow.
彼は明日(土曜日)に国民にスピーチする予定です。

(女王が亡くなったバルモラル城は、エリザベス女王の私邸の一つで、毎年ここで夏季休暇を過ごしていたそうです。2021年に夫のフィリップ王配が亡くなるまでは、フィリップ王配も一緒に滞在していました。)
