先日もまたアメリカのナッシュビルの学校で銃の乱射事件がありました。アメリカでの銃規制はこの後どうなるのでしょうか？昨日のBBCは次のように伝えています。私の訳でご紹介します。
Joe Biden has responded to the latest school shooting, this time in Tennessee, with a renewed call for gun-control legislation.
ジョー・バイデンは、今回テネシー州でおきた直近の学校銃乱射事件に対応し、銃規制法を新たに呼びかけました。
But his desire to pass sweeping new reform faces familiar obstacles.
しかし、全面的な新しい改革を通過させたいという彼の願望は、おなじみの障害に直面しています。
“We have to do more to stop gun violence. It’s ripping our communities apart,” the US president said, hours after six people were killed at an elementary school in Nashville.
「私たちは銃の暴力を止めるためにもっと多くのことをしなければなりません。銃による暴力は我々の地域を分断させている。」ナッシュビルの小学校で6人が殺された数時間後、米国大統領は言いました。
